Jayeless’ Sims

It’s been almost a decade since I played The Sims 2, but armed with a Steam Deck and the discovery that Wine/Proton is capable of playing this beloved old game now, I got excited to get back into it!

Now, every previous time I played The Sims 2, I made my own households and just played them. In fact, basically I attempted the legacy challenge every time (and hey, I even completed it once!). Since I already started a legacy in The Sims 4 approx. one week before my Steam Deck arrived and I could install The Sims 2, I decided not to do another legacy in this game… I decided I was going to do something I’d never done before, and actually play the premades.

Obviously, I have heard about the premade Sims’ storylines and all the juicy drama set up between the households. I mean, I’ve particularly heard about the Bella Goth abduction storyline, and the “Don Lothario cheating on his fiancée Cassandra Goth with the Caliente ladies and the maid” storyline, and a bit about some of the Strangetown and Veronaville premades too (but those will have to wait ‘til I get bored of Pleasantview). And I was just like, hey, it’d be a good bit of fun to play through all that. So that’s what I’m gonna do!

My plan is to play it as a loosely rotational thing. I’m not going to get hung up on playing each household for exactly three days at a time then rotating to the next, or anything, but I do plan to use the seasons as a guide to make sure the amount I play each household evens out over time. And look, I’m just gonna have fun with it. What more could I ask for than that?

God, I can’t believe it’s been... over six years... anyway...

The other day I wrote a blog post about how I wanted to get back into the Sims, both 2 & 4, and since then I’ve made good on my intention, at least as far as TS4 goes. I’ve installed the game on my MacBook Air, and started a brand new legacy, which I’ll probably start posting any day now! I have literally no idea where (or if???) people share what I think of as “full-length legacy updates” (as opposed to the much shorter posts on Tumblr) any more, so I guess I’m writing and posting mostly for myself, but if other people want to follow along, awesome.

I’m not going to be continuing the Coopers, my first TS4 legacy. Mainly this is because it’s been six years, and I needed a fresh start. I do have a few updates that were posted on Tumblr in late 2017 and early 2018, but never made it here, that I can share though. I just uploaded them as simple webpages to my own subdomain, but here are the links:

While I’ve already started playing a TS4 legacy, I also bought a Steam Deck recently, and I’m interested in installing The Sims 2 on it because apparently that’s a thing you can do. If that does work, that means there might even be all-new TS2 content on the way. Again, it wouldn’t be a continuation of any of my old TS2 legacies, especially since I can’t find my old backups of the neighbourhood they lived in. It’d be a totally new thing. But it also remains to be seen whether I’ll actually get around to it :)
